DVDs in Horse Management and Basic Riding Skills

Improve your understanding of the psychology of the horse with this DVD!

Are you new to horses? These DVDs will teach what horses need to be comfortable, safe and stay injury free. In the DVD we teach you how to be safe around horses and how to get your riding skills started. Suitable for young and old (8 years to 80 years). Great introductory videos!

Horses can be quite deceptive. They can look so quiet when they are relaxed. However, this can change very quickly when they think there is danger. When you are inexperienced in reading the signals it can happen un-expectantly and you could get hurt. Because horses are a hunted species they will always revert to instinctive behaviour, when they get a fright.

Also horses live in herds with a very clear pecking order. They establish this pecking order with body language. We have also learned that the most dangerous horse is the one trying to move up in the pecking order.

When we deal with a horse WE need to become the top in the pecking order to stay safe.

In the horse management DVDs we show:

  • How horses behave in a herd situation
  • Explain horse psychology
  • How you can stay safe around horses
  • How to groom
  • How to saddle and bridle correctly and make sure the gear fits properly
  • Why we shoe horses and show cold and hot shoeing

The DVDs are suitable for parents, riders, volunteers who work with horses, for use in holiday camps (they have been successfully used with children as young as eight years old), pony club riders and teachers. In fact anybody who wants to know how horses think and be safe around horses.
